So hopefully you’ve read the beginners guide to Whisky and now you want to buy a bottle or two to further your enlightenment but you don’t know what to buy and no one wants to spunk £200 up the wall on stuff that turns out to be total shite.Or you might get lucky and buy something that you actually really like.
But it can be a hit and miss affair while you find out what you like. Therefore you might want some help and read a buyers guide. Ta-daaaarrrrrr!!!!!All of these bottles you’ll find in one of the big five supermarkets or any decent online retailer easily enough.
Do us all a favour. Steer clear of Amazon. Yes they have the general shit easily enough but it’s the small specialist whisky/spirits shops that have the good stuff and frankly – we want them to remain open.

Remember a couple of very important things. An Age statement does not mean quality. A level of Quality does not a whisky has to be a certain age.
Right. So that’s 40ish different bottles of whisky to look at. Now I’m not saying that you need to buy and drink all of them but maybe one or two from each category will start to give you an idea of what to expect from each category. Yes other cask finishes, different countries, more expensive, indie bottles but we’re keeping it easy at the moment. So pick one, do a little reading, have a sip, see what others think, read some reviews, make your own opinions. Most importantly, drink the fucking stuff find out what you like.
